The Comox Valley Cycling Coalition is hosting its Annual General Meeting on the Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay (details below). We would like to invite all people interested in safe cycling education and infrastructure to attend and enjoy three presentations, along with the opportunity to ask questions.
We have 4-5 people willing to stand for re-election the current board and would like to fill that to our maximum of 11 members so really need some new people to put their hand up. If you are passionate about improving cycling and would like to consider getting involved, please drop us a line at [email protected] or have someone nominate you at the meeting. It is not a large time requirement – we usually have 8 meetings per year (evenings, approx. 1.5 hours length) and we need people to continue the outstanding work that has been done to date!
On a personal note, after 3 years as President, I will be passing the torch to a new leader but plan to stay on the board as a director.
This year, our presentations and discussions are going to focus on a very current and relevant topic – active transportation infrastructure. All our local municipalities have created Active Transportation plans – the next step is to prioritize and fund the numerous projects that are in those plans.
Hope to see you there!
Mike Keohane – President, Comox Valley Cycling Coalition
