The summer bicycle season is a great time to explore a neighbouring community by bicycle. So, we asked Laurel Cronk to take us on one of her favourite Campbell River bike rides.
Laurel Cronk is the owner of Island Joy Rides, a boutique bicycle touring company. She actually grew up in the Comox Valley, but as a young adult left the Island for a time. Eventually she returned to Vancouver Island, settling in Campbell River where she has lived for the past 25 years.
Laurel loves exploring city life and nature by bike. Cycling is something that “makes her come alive” and therefore was excited to show off a local bike route she feels is a Campbell River hidden gem: the Greenways Loop.
Cycling the Greenways Loop is truly a Campbell River Joy Ride. It skirts the perimeter of the city on nature trails, separated pathways, sea walk, bike lanes, and the road shoulder. The Greenways Loop is a 25 km journey from urban life into the peaceful world of a nature and back out again. The experience is rejuvenating.
